Next Paris St Germain manager: Who will replace Unai Emery? All the information you need on next PSG manager odds

Paris Saint-Germain headcoach Unai Emery looks on during a French Ligue 1 football match.

Next Paris St Germain manager: Unai Emery has only recently replaced Laurent Blanc and is contracted until 2018 but if disaster strikes and he is ousted from his role, who could replace the former Sevilla legend? We provide information on all of the likely candidates, including next PSG manager odds, right here.

Team Status

One of the youngest superpowers in world football, Paris Saint-Germain were only founded in 1970 - 45 years ago - but have developed into one of the wealthiest clubs on the planet. They dominate their national league and are a genuine player in the Champions League.

In those 45 years, PSG have won 30 minor and major titles, including six Ligue 1 championships and a UEFA Cup Winners Cup.

The club have also provided a footballing home for legitimate legends like David Ginola, Thiago Silva, Ronaldinho, George Weah, Rai, Pedro-Miguel Pauleta and, of course, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The management of Gerard Houlier in the 1980s, the takeover of Canal+ in 1991, the buy-out of the club by Qatar Sports Investments in 2011 and the ability to lure massive names to Paris in recent seasons are all seen as the pivotal moments in Paris St Germain's short history.

The reigning Ligue 1 champions, PSG won the 2015-16 title with an incredible 96 points (31 points more than Lyon in second place) and 102 goals scored (19 against) from 38 games (30 wins and just two losses).

Ligue 1, at the moment, is a clear one club league as PSG have no obvious rival for the title. And little is expected to change in the coming seasons.

Current Paris St Germain Team Manager

Unai Emery

A left-sided midfielder during his playing days, Emery - a Spaniard who competed at Real Sociedad, Toledo, Racing Ferrol and Leganes - was a midfielder of limited ability and largely restricted to Segunda Division football.

As a manager Emery has proven himself as an elite-level coach. With a 49% win record at Valencia, and three years at Sevilla where he presided over the most successful period in the club's history (winning three Europa League titles in a row), Emery took charge of PSG on June 28, 2016 and has big Laurent Blanc sized shoes to fill.

Emery has long been well thought of in Spain, for over a decade, and though his relentless successes in Europe alerted the top clubs in Europe it was PSG who won his signature, potentially over the likes of other clubs like Napoli and AC Milan.

Emery adheres to a 4-2-3-1 formation and is considered one of the shrewdest tacticians and obsesses over game preparation. According to legend, he hands individual players a USB drive which provides specific information about who they will be marking, who will be marking them and how they will win that individual battle.

Considering Emery is new to the role, the PSG board are not considering alternative options at the current time. However, should Emery leave the Parc des Princes before the expiration of his current PSG contract (2018) then candidates like Louis van Gaal, Rafa Benitez, Manuel Pellegrini and, above all, Arsene Wenger, would likely be considered as next Paris St Germain manager.

Of the four aforementioned options, Wenger may well end up as the bookmakers favourite particularly as the longer he stays at Arsenal, the more his position seems untenable.

Key Influences - Who helps decide on the manager's future?

There is nobody higher up than Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the club president and chairman of Qatar Sports Investment.

Even though Laurent Blanc signed Angel di Maria, won all four domestic trophies PSG were in and got to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, Al-Khelaifi was still seemingly unsatisfied.

Speculation suggests that PSG managers may well be judged on how the club fares in European tournaments, regardless of how well the team performs in domestic competitions.

There are a number of competitive teams in the Champions League in the 2016-17 season, though, including the usuals like Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Then there is the second tier like Juventus, while Manchester City could offer some resurgence.

Potential Future Paris St Germain Managers and next Paris St Germain Manager Betting Advice

If Emery under-delivers in the Champions League, or is swayed by an alternative job opening (unlikely considering his expected high salary at PSG), then the best betting advice for next PSG manager could be Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger. The Frenchman would be a popular choice with the fans at the Parc des Princes and is out of contract next summer, 2017.
